In 1492, Spain expelled from the country its most valuable citizens, the ” sefarditas ,” (Spanish Jews). Many of them moved to other parts of Europe, or came to the New World as ” conversos ” to Christianity.

3 Spanish aid workers kidnapped in Mauritania (AP via Yahoo! News)

Army teams and planes searched the desert nation Monday for three Spanish volunteers kidnapped by gunmen, and Spain’s interior minister said he suspected al-Qaida-linked Islamists were behind the attack.
