MOSCOW July 28 (Itar-Tass) Russia is marking for the first time in its history the Day of Baptizing of Kievan Rus a new commemorative date that has been established to commemorate the Grand Duke Vladimir, who adopted Eastern Orthodox Christianity as the official religion of the early medieval duchy of Rus.

Khmer Rouge jailer faces 19 years for 16,000 dead

A U.N.-backed tribunal sentenced the Khmer Rouge’s chief jailer to 35 years for overseeing the deaths of up to 16,000 people the first verdict involving a senior member of the “killing fields” regime that devastated a generation of Cambodians.

Khmer Rouge jailer found guilty of war crimes

A war crimes tribunal convicted and sentenced the Khmer Rouge’s chief jailer Monday for overseeing the deaths of up to 16,000 people, in the first verdict involving a senior member of the “killing fields” regime that devastated a generation of Cambodians.

Khmer Rouge prison chief awaits verdict

A U.N.-backed war crimes tribunal was expected to issue a decision Monday in the trial of the Khmer Rouge’s chief jailer and torturer the first verdict involving a leader of the genocidal regime that created Cambodia’s killing fields.
